Child Support
Colorado Child Support Lawyer
Attorney Jeff Alter focuses on your goals for your children during the child support phase of your family law matter.
Child support can be sought in different proceedings including divorce, legal
separation, paternity, parental responsibility, and independent support actions.
Child support continues in Colorado until the child reaches the age of 19 or
becomes emancipated (independent).
There are many factors that go into a
child support calculation, including: the
gross incomes of each parent; number of children involved, number of
overnights with the children each parent has; spousal support paid or
received; other child support being paid; daycare and health insurance
costs; and many more.
Jeff will calculate the amounts involved and will strongly represent you whether you are to receive or pay the support. He will help you complete financial statements as well as worksheets as required by the Colorado legislature.
Further, Jeff provides strong representation in modifying an existing child support order. A support order can be modified upon a showing of a substantial and continuing change in circumstances. If the resulting amount under the support guidelines calculation is less than a 10 percent change, the change in circumstances is generally deemed not to be substantial and continuing.
Don't let the process overwhelm you. Don't be taken advantage of. Contact Jeff before it's too late.
